About the Model:

I always said that if I made any aircraft, no Meccano bolt heads would show on the surfaces. To achieve Frank Hornby's "use cardboard etc," aim that we should use our own initiative, I use mostly etcetera - and my models are always described as made WITH Meccano to avoid any ambiguity so M3 x 6mm and 12 mm length Countersunk screws, nuts and washers are used as far as possible. They provide a near flush surface without alteration of Meccano parts and where possible 'Riv nuts' and threaded inserts are fitted in standard parts in strategic positions to eliminate nuts.

The 'rivnuts' are converted full nuts or made from 7/32" dia brass and although such heresy might displease the Meccano flat world society their use is standard engineering practice, as are threaded strips which can be made to any length for ease of assembly. Future models will be based on parts for these aircraft, Fig 2, and others in the Dennis Aero Parts system as shown in Fig 3.
